where comfort lies

about

where comfort lies is a lighthearted indie rock group from houston, texas, spearheaded by eddie stuckman.

i first met eddie while performing around town with islands of pear, with eddie playing in his previous band, and then suddenly. our bands would often perform on the same bill since our scene was a bit niche, so we eventually got to know each other.

at the time, eddie had been working with michael lane galloway, another musician in our closely-knit network, to help write and produce eddie’s solo project, which would eventually receive the where comfort lies moniker. eddie had written most of the songs himself including vocals and ukulele, with lane and others contributing to the rest of the instrumentation.

lane hit me up one day asking if i’d be interested in helping out with the audio engineering aspect of the record they were working on, and i was all ears. he sent me all the work they had done so far and i began editing, mixing, and mastering the songs to get them to where they are now. it was a great collaborative process between several musicians that i respect, and all our hard work and dedication to the project paid off in dividends.

since then, eddie has formed a band to perform the songs live and they’ve continued to write and produce more music under the where comfort lies name. to learn more about them, follow them on social media or check them out on major streaming platforms below!

releases

today is the collection of songs i worked on alongside eddie and lane. it’s an interesting blend of pop-punk and americana, all while sporting eddie’s ukulele playing.

the interesting fusion of styles made this record very enjoyable to work on, seeing as we got to push the envelope of each genre into the next in terms of engineering and production. eddie, lane, and others did a fantastic job putting together all the instrumentation and arrangements for the album, so being the one to mix and master it was a stellar opportunity.

the songs are all very heartfelt and upbeat, dare i say, comforting. i feel eddie and his crew did a great job of achieving what they set out to do, and i’m honored to have been a part of it.
