noah elkins
about
noah elkins is a solo singer/songwriter from katy, texas. he carries himself as somewhat of a blues, country, and folk artist.
i was actually introduced to noah by a mutual friend while looking for a bassist to play in my band. the 3 of us met at my house for our first rehearsal as a group, and instantly clicked. noah’s been an accomplished musician for quite some time, and turns heads with his cello, bass, and guitar playing. so, it wasn’t a tough decision for me to agree to have him join the band.
we became close friends leading up to the pandemic and spent an impressive amount of time staying up til the wee hours of the night playing games online with friends. during that time, we spoke about his personal music aspirations and set out on a project to get it made. we recorded a short EP at my home studio and even collaborated on a song together. it was a lot of fun working on that music with him since we were already so chummy together as friends, and we had a great time.
since then, noah has been extremely active in the music scene as always, playing with various groups and continuing to put out his own music. to learn more about him and his music, follow him on social media and streaming platforms below!
releases
33 is the second release that noah and i worked on together. all songs were written and performed by him, with me adding some drums in post-production.
noah’s smooth guitar and cello performances are truly the spotlight of this album, and his buttery vocals are just the cherry on top. his songwriting feels warm and familiar, like that one old chair in your grandparent’s house that seems like it’s been there longer than they have.
this record was an amazing experience for me as, before this, i mostly had only worked on loud rock music. so, it was great to break out of my comfort zone. i learned a lot while producing this, and carry those methodologies with me to this day.
“silver lining” was me and noah’s first time making music together, and to my surprise, he wanted to make it a full collaboration and feature the sound i typically use in my own original music. so, this was a lot of fun and a good challenge for me, as our musical styles differ quite a bit.
he started off by coming in to record his song with just an acoustic guitar and his vocals, then had me fill in the rest of the arrangement with my sound. this track turned out to be such an exhilarating piece and totally exceeded my expectations of how our sounds would mix.
